Rain Tank Water

Have you ever tasted rain tank water ? If not you do not know what you are missing. Rain Water just like those mountain streams are free of the stuff that is added by governments that is supposed to protect us. Wow I guess we are alive here because all those pioneers stuck stuff into our water to protect us. (I don’t think so).

I have 75,000 liters (15,000 gallons) of rain tank water, all collected off my roof. I have been drinking it ever since I retired to the country over 12 years ago. I have had no ailments or tummy problems because of it unlike all the city kids seem to have and they drink this so-called “clean” city water. I guess it is because they no longer build up their immune systems. Just think of all those strange ailments kids seem to have today before we were told about all this clean stuff and treatments that are needed to things that we did not seem to need in the past. “Don’t roll around in the dirt Tommy” mum says, “you might catch something”.

I hold a glass of my rain tank water up to the light and it is clear as a bell and tastes like nothing on earth. Whenever I travel to the city to see my grandkids I have to take bottles of it with me because I just cannot stand to drink the city tap water. Apart from this try a bath in rainwater and shampoo your hair. Its not hard like most of your city water, apart from the stuff that governments stick in it the rain water collected in our reservoirs get all those hard producing minerals collected on the way to them. I also hate to think of all the chemicals that may also be added to make the water you get, so call safe.

I guess that all the rain tank water especially that falling in the cities may be filled up with all that smoggy stuff it has to fall through before it hits your roof. Well all that is needed is a good filter just like I use. (I do understand that there are somethings that you may not want to drink)

We (especially us in Australia) are suffering from a lack of rain, reservoirs are very low (making what remains sludgy) so what can we do. Well I guess you can install your own rain water tank collecting system. It’s not hard and it’s not rocket science as a lot of those expensive plumbers try to make you believe. You can bet your bottom dollar that our past pioneers did not have plumbers around when they started collecting water in tanks. It’s actually easier for us these days because we can buy tanks ready made; we can buy pipes ready made. In the past you had to build make them.

You may say, “I don’t want a rain water tank in my backyard, they look ugly” Here is a picture of my tanks.

Sorry you can’t see them they are just behind those grapefruit and lemon trees. You can just see a bit of black just under the arch after the first post. There are three tanks there.

Think about putting in rain tank water, you won’t be disappointed and you will find many ideas in this my Rain Tank Water Blog.
